At Gospel Embassy Chapel Kakamega, we believe in the biblical principle of giving as an expression of our love and gratitude to God. Giving is not only a form of worship but also a way to support the church’s mission and help those in need.
1. Tithes
Bible Reference: Malachi 3:10
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Tithing involves giving 10% of your income to the church. It is an act of obedience and trust in God’s provision, supporting the church’s daily operations and ministries.
2. Offerings
Bible Reference: 2 Corinthians 9:7
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Offerings are contributions given above and beyond the tithe. They are a voluntary expression of love and gratitude towards God, often directed towards specific church projects or charitable causes.
3. Sacrificial Giving
Bible Reference: Mark 12:43-44
“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.'”
Sacrificial giving involves giving something of significant personal value, often beyond one’s means or comfort. It demonstrates deep faith and devotion, trusting God to meet your needs.
4. First Fruits
Bible Reference: Proverbs 3:9-10
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
First fruits giving involves dedicating the first portion of your income or increase to God. It symbolizes putting God first in all areas of life and acknowledging His blessings.
